Lord of The Rings to DiVX using Xmpeg

Hi all..

I've ben encoding Divx's for sometime but can't figure out why I am having problems doing a 2 pass Divx5 encode of Lord of the Rings.

Basically the first pass is fine but the second pass always fails between 50 and 60%.

I have changed various settings in Xmpeg...there is enough disk space etc etc.... but nothing makes any difference....Xmpeg crashes with an application error and then closes.

Any idea's?

The problem might be XMPEG itself. From what I have read in this forum, you should only use version 4.2. I've tried 4.31 and had many problems and it is said that ver. 4.5 sucks.

Yeah I think it could be version 4.5 so I'll see if I can find a different version.

I have a rippak called "simpledivx 0.99" which has a checkbox called "fix hang in mpeg2avi when doing second pass".

So maybe it's a mpeg2avi pb. Hope that can help...
