Use dvd decrypter to rip the dvd. The block happend then the ripper program is unable to rip that movie well. then just reencode the movie. And btw just wait for the post and dont keep posting. People will help you just have to wait.

That answers the question why you are getting lots of macroblocks in your video. The video bitrate is inadequate for that high a resolution. Your choice lies in either reducing the resolution or increasing the bitrate. I prefer the former, as this results in more or less the same video filesize, requires less CPU power to play and most importantly, is much less likely to result in macroblocks. For that kind of bitrate, I suggest using a resolution of 512x() or lower.

That depends entirely on the source and how many CDs you are trying to use.

Bitrate: Determined (using a bitrate calculator) by the expected file size (700 or 1400MB, inc. sound) and play length of the movie (The longer, the less the bitrate is).

Framerate: PAL sources will have 25fps and NTSC 29.97fps. This is not interchangeable.

Resolution: This is what you have more control with. As a general guide, a resolution of 640x480 should have a bitrate no less 1000. You can make do with less for a wide-screen movie. The required bitrate goes down proportionally with decreasing resolution.

switch from *calculate average bitrate* to

***calculate avi file size***

in the top left area of your bitrate tab.

do u add in the bitrate ni the average bitrate slot
i added in 1500 for my bitrate in the average bitrate slot
and my finished movie only had a 350 kbps bitrate is my program messed up or am i trying to change my bitrate the wrong way

ok this is my problem i have my dvd 2 avi file to start with i do everything in uncas guide , when i am about to start encoding the average bitrate says 1650 but when i get my finished movie it is more like 650 if that has anyone ever had this problem

can you provide me with a sample?
since you said ~1600kbps were used, i simply cant imagine how your file should look like crap then.

what dou mean a sample d ou want me to send u a copy of the divx file

i ripped the movie platoon

before i started to encode teh average bitrate said 1650 but after it ripped it was really only 650
so really 1600 couldnt have been used i guess
cause when i play it in the player it says 650 in the top corner this is weird i dont know

Hi ,

I am new at this, i am using flaskmpeg for my divx movies.
The most inportend question that i have is, what settings must i select to get the higest quailty possible for my divx movie?

Also when i complete a movie, i see that the movie is much smaller than the original movie (16:9). Even when i have selected 720x576. I use my tv-out to view te movie on my tv. How can i get the same size as the original DVD.?

When flaskmpeg is busy with my movie, i see a setting called "priority settings" What does this mean?

When i must select a codec for my movie i can select serveral divx codes 3.11 and 5.02. divx codec 3.11 have 2 options called "high and low" what does this mean, and what is the best?

I have seen many posts here on this forum, and in several of then they speak about a 2 pass. What is this?

And my last question is, when i make a mpeg2 file the movie is very good, only when the camera turns for left 2 right i see little blocks, and it is not sharp anymore. But when the camera stops the picture then is good and sharp again. Does it really matter what program you use for making a divx or mpeg2 file?

Hope some have the answers...

thanks! William

imho: absolutely!

try a 2 pass routine with gordianknot026b and divx5 and you'll be amazed.

take a look at my guide, if you want details.
