my opinion is maxtor hdd's are cheap and unreliable. Western Digital/IBM/Segate are good choices.

I don't care what anyone says. IMO Maxtor's rock!!! They are cheap in price, Very stable, and they have great customer service when needed. Not to mention there always break the size limit, which goes to show there very up to date when it comes to technolgy.

For the best prices on the net check www.pricewatch.com

how much experience do u have with maxtor and other hard drives? otherwise u cannot make such statements. if your hard drives fails then do they replace it free of charge, cos if not your better off with a manufacture of your pc's warrenty or if ur experienced you might not need customer service.

this is no indication of their quality of hardrives. Also 'cheap?' they are but performance and reliability are better for the consumer.

I am sure others agree.

Lets see. Is 6yrs exp. with um long enough for ya?

I did have a 5gig Maxtor fail on me a few years ago and they replaced it at no charge seeing how it was under warrenty. They also upgraded it to a 8 gig cause it was my primary HDD and I lost everything. PC's warrenty? They don't give you a warrenty when you build your own systems!!!

And how can you argue when your recomending WD. Had a friend who used to run WD and all he did was send um back. Now this was years ago so they may have changed but.....

Also If ya took time to read my post I said IMO. I said I would recomened them not to go by stock in there company.

I have a right to speak my opinion as do you.

And IMO for the price Maxtors are realiable and there CS is very good.

(Dam, wheres that spell check hack)

I not saying your opnion is wrong as everybody is entitled to an opinion. However i think you are mistaken. Firstly all the maxtor hdd's u talk about are of small capacity and at the time they were made maxtor concentrated on quality and not pushing technology to the limit so much that qualty and performance cannot me maintained. Secondly abour your friends WD HDD, there is always a faulty one. Not all hdd's are perfect.
