Hey everyone ;

After getting no response from divx.com forums i decided to try my chance here. Hope you can help me.

I was using DivX 3.11 codec to watch the videos. When i got a few videos they needed 4.0 codec to watch. I go and downloaded 4.02 codec. Everything was OK.

But after a while i realized that my 3.11 videos doesn't go to CPU (Quality) 4 (max). It always goes level 2. I make it 4 , push apply then ok but it goes back to 2 again. I tried restarting video(s). (Not having this problem with 1 video , hundreds of divx videos , that makes general problem).

I chose not to play 3.xx video with Divx 4.02 during the installion.

I tried uninstalling the codecs from Video Codecs segment in Control Panel (multimedia). And tried to delete the files manually (divx*).

So why always it sets to CPU Quality to level 2 ?

My CPU is : P3 733EB
OS : Windows 2000

Never had this problem before , it occured after i installed Divx 4.02.

Waiting for your response.

Best Regards

"Never had this problem before , it occured after i installed Divx 4.02. "

Seems fairly certain that 4.02 is at the root of your problem. I'd suggest that you uninstall 4.02 and download and install v.4.11, which I believe is backwards-compatible with 3.11 (3.11 is from the ORIGINAL creator of DivX, while 4.xx is from "Project Mayo/Open Divx/DivxDeux).

Let us know of your success ;>}

These instructions from the original 3.11 pack might provide a solution (albeit not ideal):

"HEX edit hack of default value !

In the codec file DivXc32.DLL (low-motion)
The Bit Rate at AC6
The Quality at 1EA8
The Keyframes at 1EAF

In the codec file DivXc32f.DLL (fast-motion)
The Bit Rate at AC6
The Quality at 1EA8
The Keyframes at 1EAF

In the Decoder file DivX_c32.AX
The default CPU at 20B3"

Let us know of your success;>}

You would use a program called a "hex(adecimal) editor". If you don't have prior experience with this type of tool, I'm afraid that the information I provided in my previous post won't help you.

One other thing that you could try - STOP (not Pause) the video, move the slider ("Apply" and "OK") and then restart the video.
