m2v file length reported incorrectly

I use tmpg to convert video to m2v, later to be used in dvdit. When I play the m2v, the length is shown as about 16 minutes, although the actual length is about 30 min. If I convert (mux) into a mpg, the length is correct, when I go back to m2v, it is incorrect again.

Any suggestions?

I have had the exact same problems, and in windows media player, when the bar reaches the ed, the video keeps playing like nothing is wrong right? All I can say is maybe a corrupted header in the begginnning of the mpeg file, it shouldnt mess up anything you are doing though, just a small annoyance.
