Best DVD-R/RW (General) media

Successfully creating DVD's with a UDF 1.02/ISO file system.
Video_ts and Audio_ts in the root. Plays perfectly on PC kicks Power DVD into life, doesn't work on a stand alone player.

I think the finer pitch of a 4.7GB (G) as opposed to a 3.95GB for authoring is causing the problem. Different media seem to behave differently in the player.

Pioneer DVD-R nearly catches.
Verbatim DVD-RW - the machine spits the eject tray out (even after a full erase).

Has anyone got experience of good and bad media in a Pioneer DVD R A03.? (BTW- if you've got this player fimware 1.65 has just been released on the pioneeraus.com)

What software are you using?

Use GEAR PRO DVD to burn your VIDEO_TS , it detects error on
VTS sector with VTS_01_0.IFO & VIDEO_TS.IFO

If you are using authoring software to make your vob,you shouldn't have problem to play correctly your DVD.
Ask marantz if player is compatible with dvd-r (only 90-99%? are
compatible).
I use MISTUI & PIONEER DVD-R/RW on my PIONEER DV626D.

No problem.
Don't use Néro or other but gear pro dvd downloaded on web site
(30 days left) but crack exist.
With néro,with certain dvdplayer ejects DVD-R.

If you haven't messed with the vob's or ifo's it works fine.

Also VOB instant CD/DVD works perfectly even if you have messed with the files. - Select UDF Video CD (latest update 07/12/01).

Anyway, Im off to explore the world of TMPGEnc to try and re-code my vob's a bit smaller - do you have any experience of the process.

The ifo edit boys have got their forum up.It will be nice to see some specialist DVD encoding rather than bucket loads of SVCD and Divx stuff

Thanks - your right Gear works when you haven't messed with the vob's or ifo's. (So I know the Marantz is OK). When you do mess with the files you get a vts ifo load error. I would like to get to the bottom of it as Gear seems like a nice bit of soft.

What do you guys mean when you say messing with the VOB's? Does ripping them to the local machine from a DVD include messing with them?

I'm getting an error message also with Gear Pro when I try to import the video_ts directory. The message is something like out of space in sector or something.

You guys wouldn't know where to get a crack for Gear would you? My 30 days are almost up. And, I'm still evaluating!

No - messing with the vob's means stripping out the unwanted audio and subtitle streams from the vob and resaving creating new VTS and VOB ifo's.

You can get the vob to 80% of its original without touching the main m2v stream.

On the subject of a crack for gear-no luck mate.

Im contemplating splashing my cash as I think its quite a good bit of soft. (I'm obviously getting old)

Gear is pretty nice. I played with it for a bit last night. It only takes about 30 minutes to write 4GB of video. I was looking around their website. $700 is a little steep for the software. I have MyDvd and DvdIt licenses. But, they both suck. They can only write limited filetypes.

I keep getting an error when trying to import a video_ts directory. Then, I got another error on trying to write a DVD-RW.
When Gear gives you an error in writing, it kind of rolls back the whole thing. It's an all or nothing deal.

The errors are always at the very end of the operation. Any ideas.

I think you might be able to use the old 'change the system date' solution.
