Assuming that the subsequent segments, do have sound (and the same sound format as the first):

Just make certain that you've set the "Audio" in VirtualDub to "Direct Stream Copying".

"not a virtual dub prob at all turns out "

Nothing is more "fun" than discovering a new problem...

If you've got the original DVD, re-rip using Clad (I still prefer the older v.1.71) - and be certain NOT to check the "Skip Multi-angles" box. Then convert with Flask (0.594PX3 is still, in my opinion, the most reliable), by selecting "Open DVD", selecting the movie's .IFO file and selecting the first duration (typically "0") that matches the movie's running time.

P.S. Trying to cullout individual angles from individual .VOBs doesn't sound like a very enjoyable project.

I found Clad by it was ver. 1.5 and nothing in there bout skip split vob's and i already use flask .594 so I'll see what clad does with my Titanic dvd an some of my Walt Dis. dvd's kids are scratching them.
Thx

"I found Clad by it was ver. 1.5 and nothing in there bout skip split vob's"

I presume you meant my reference to the "Skip Multi-Angles" choice that appears when you press the "Extra Settings" radio button in Clad V.171 (and prior, as I recall).

If you'd like, you can download v.1.71 (available on 1/01/01) from the following site:

Well thx for your help on the multiangle vob's clad 1.7 does work some movies are short but that is noprob to encode the vobs flask misses and then append them together with virtual dub but now I'm working on a dif sound prob I have always had and that is that my sound in all my .avi's I do no matter on any of my pc's I use I it have to turn the volume up full and have I hard time hearing some. Is there some way in virtual dub I can turn up the sound level to begin with or another avi editing prog I can use to do this with?

"Is there some way in virtual dub I can turn up the sound level?"

Certainly. Starting with VDub v.1.4D, there is a "Volume" selection available under the "Audio" dropdown menu. It is not available if you select (the default) "Direct Stream Copying". When you change this to "Full Processing Mode", "Volume" becomes available.

Let us know of your success ;>}

Hmm yup it will make the avi's sound louder but man does it ever make the file size larger. :(

"but man does it ever make the file size larger"

1) I'm going to guess that you didn't select any type of audio compression - which I presumed you would be doing, since you indicated that you had previously used VDub to merge .AVIs.

2) Perhaps I forgot to mention that under the "Video" dropdown, you should change from "Full Processing Mode to "Direct Stream Copying" (just the opposite of "Audio"). Did you see a message that stated, "You are about to save an uncompressed file"?

My apologies if I've inadvertently caused you confusion.

Naa no confusion just that when I setup the sound it makes the file bout twice as big as before and I always use dir stream copy for the vid and the audio I setup for divx but it still make the file size alot bigger.

I don't know why your getting this problem.

I just ran the same file through VirtulDub 1.4D twice - once with no volume change and then again with the volume increased to 200%. The two files are of absolutely identical size of 622,076,016 bytes.

Are you somehow inadvertently going to a higher precision (16 bit from 8 bit), or from mono to stereo, or from 44,100 to 48,000 sampling rate? Are the original files DivX audio as well?

The original is divx audio and im making no changes just setting the sound level to 200% not setting the compression cause it is already divx audio an my file sizes come out over 1 to 2 gig from files that are from 500megs to 700 megs.

Hmm just figed out what I was doing wrong. I needed to set the audio compression to divx stereo even tho it is already on that from flask :)
