File Size Too Big

Why is it when i cut a piece of an avi file using VirtualDub that the file size is huge when I go to save it, (eg 60 gb) I followed the directions and everything but I have no Clue what im missing, Someone help me out....

Under the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Direct Stream Copying".

I did that and the file size is still like 60 gb...Someone please Help

You haven't indicated how big either the entire file is, or how big the "piece" is (either in giga/mega bytes or an approximate percentage of the the entire file) before trying to save it under VDub.

By the way, are you certain it's Gigabytes and not Megabytes?

The file size im starting with is 650 mb (about) and when i go to cut the file in half the file size is about 60 Gigabytes...Im positive...Hit me up with directions...

1) Did you create this .AVI file yourself, or download it?

2) You might want to try uninstalling VirtualDub completely and then reinstalling it. By the way, which version number of VDub are you using?

I did download the avi file and i am using virtualdub 1.4 and then i did uninstall it and reinstall it, and it still does the same thing....

There are about a dozen different v.1.4xxx versions - which are you using? If it truly is the initial 1.4 (with no following letter [A through D] or number [1 through 8]), I'd suggest that you download a more current version - from my experience 1.4D is quite stable.

The more I think about it, the more incredulous I am about your response to my previous suggestion, "Under the 'Video' dropdown menu, select 'Direct Stream Copying.'" the only way you could create a filesize "explosion' of the proportions you described, would be if you left the "Video" set at it's default setting of "Full Processing Mode" - and even then, it probably wouldn't be greater than 8 Gigs...
