How to gain audio in AVI?

Hey There, i want to gain the Volume of my Movies, because often the Volume of the audio stream ist too quiet. What Software do i need for this?

Any version of VirtaulDub starting as early as 1.4D through 1.4.8.

1) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDub.

2) Under the "Video" dropdown, change setting to "Direct Stream Copying".

3) Under the "Audio" dropdown, change the setting to "Full Processing Mode". This will make the "Volume" line active.

4) Set the volume to your desired percentage of the original.

5) Under "Audio", select "Compression". Select the same compression as was use for the original .AVI (e.g. .MP3). Put a checkmark in the box labeled "Show all formats". Select the same rate as was used for the original .AVI file (e.g. 44,100Hz Stereo 96Kbps)

6) Save as a new file name.

Yes, Thank you it worked, but now the audio is asynchron to the movie. But i know hot to fix it. Now its many work but it worked.

The only problem i have with this solution is that you have no clue about the amount of increase and if you increase it too much then the sound will get distorted.

A much nicer solution (although it will take some time) is via the normalizing methode

What it comes down to is that you rip the audio, convert it into pcm-format and then with a prog called DeDynamic you can increase the sound with (for instance) 6 Db, or whatever suites you.

You will need Virtual Dub
Winamp
DeDynamic

I am very satified with the results; but the methode posted above also does the trick (and faster)
You have to try it for yourself and decide which one suites YOU best.
