I have ripped a DVD, it now holds various vob files which are all under 4.1Gb.
How do I get this onto a DVD-r that will play in a General DVD player.:biglaugh:

u should have a folder with your rip in it did u rip the ifo if so get a prog called ifo edit when u have it start it up click on open get ur video_ts.ifo file from ur rip click on vmg then on regional code mask double click on regional code set it to 0 save it and bup and exit open up ur writing prog select data disc udf select udf version 1.02 very important now drag and drop ur audio_ts folder&ur video_ts folder no other folders so if you have renamed the folder change it make sure that only the two folder go in then burn 30mins later u have a backup region free dvd movie
software i use smart ripper, ifo edit, vob for burning

Thanks for that Billy.
What I have done now, is ripped it again using DVD Decrypter and in a folder I now have the Following
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_02_0.IFO
VTS_02_1.VOB
VTS_02_2.VOB
VTS_02_3.VOB
VTS_02_4.VOB
VTS_02_5.VOB
VTS_02_6.VOB
but they all amount up to 4.69 GB
Any Ideas on how to cut out the crap that I dont need?
or to make them smaller to fit onto a DVD-R

if u use smart rip u can select the audios u want to use like 1 audio english and video this will reduce the rip by about 400-500mg depending on how many audios the film has inc subtitles just select direct stream and de select the audios and subtitles u dont want u wont know how big the rip will be until u have ripped it hope this helps;);)

Thanks Billy2hats. I tried that and found the size went from 4.67 to 4.1.
What files do I need to get this to play on a DVD.
When I rip it, do I need these files?
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_02_0.IFO
VTS_02_1.VOB
VTS_02_2.VOB
VTS_02_3.VOB
VTS_02_4.VOB
VTS_02_5.VOB
VTS_02_6.VOB
Thanks M8

Thank god someone seesm to know what to do with VOB files. I am curious, i have wasted two discs already, but by following these steps I should end up with a disc that will play on my home dvd unit? Or do I have to get a new dvd player that recognizes DVD-r? I hope not......

I have three different dvd players (standalone) , and APEX 600A, A Panasonic A110 and A Toshiba, I I don't know the model number of that one. I am at a loss with some of your info. I don't have a VMG file in my Video_TS file. Or an Audio_TS folder. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any info.

My Apex 600A didnt play dvd-r until i upgraded the firmware to LD12 - although make sure you get the right firmware else you can screw you're player.
If anyone is looking for a dvd player that plays almost everything i would definatley recommend the Daewoo 3000 - i found one on Ebay for $50.
