Hi, I'm desperately looking for some help with all this burning issues, I use Nero usually to burn my movies into SVCD. Now, with Xvid files Nero won't start encoding or converting to SVCD these Xvid movies, why?? Should I use something else?? Also, is it possible to burn to regular CD-R at a better quality than SVCD??? Also, one movie I did manage to encode and burn (from Xvid file) with Nero would only play upside down. Can anyone out there please help??:vbouncy:

Use TMPGenc to encode your avi files into .mpg, then all you have to do with nero is burn them on a cd.

Thank-you for reply. I tried the program and wow it was way too long to encode!!lol......Is anyone else having a ton of problems with Sharereactor files???

The length of encoding depends on the length/size of the movie and the speed of your machine.
Sharereactor files are not the problem, its what codec the certain movie uses.

"I tried the program and wow it was way too long to encode!"
But it WORKS!
Would you rather use a fast program that doesn't work (Which is the reason for your posting!)?

CCE may be faster

And doesn't the legitimately obtained commercial product cost about $2,000?

The poster was concerned about "speeding up" the svcd conversion process, I simply addressed his concern by informing him about the availability of CCE.
Everything is relative, while for many, the price tag of $2000 may be substantial, for others it may be appropriate (For instance, CCE may be cheaper than a comparable hardware mpeg-2 solution).

Thank-you for all your suggestings, I think I'll give the programs another try. It's just that Nero takes about 2.5 hrs. to encode and burn about 50 minutes of film to SVCD, TMPGE would take 32 hrs. to encode the entire film at the same quality, am I doing something wrong?
32 HOURS!!!!!! christ you must have a 486 :)
It should take about 2 hours for high quality encode (less if fast P4 AthlonXP)
I think you may need to read up on TMPGenc (check the various guides on it) and steer clear of TMPGenc 2.59 as it has a bug for VCD etc.
Ndb;-))

It has a bug??? Damn!!lol.......I got the hang of it and it does take a LOT less time to encode, but my problem is that I encode a movie or part of it with TMPGE in SVCD which definetely should fit on a 80 min. CD. but when I go to burn I always get that damn message that I don't have enough space on my disk, I tried Nero and some other programs to burn and all gave me the same end result. I am using TMPGE 2.59, COULD THAT BE THE PROBLEM????

Typically you can fit 30-55 minutes of of SVCD media on a 80 min 700 mb cd-r/rw.
Searching the doom9.org forum, you may be able to experiment with new techniques that supposedly allow you to fit larger svcd's on a 700 mb disc, with minimal quality loss.
