Cropping without Re-encoding

Does someone know, how I can crop a mpeg or a avi file, in direct stream copy mode (without to re-encode the video)??
(I know virtual dub is not able to do that)

I remember hen i was once a novice, i asked the same question.

Unfortunately, that is IMPOSSIBLE without re-encoding. I know, its just the way encoding is done (frame by frame, as if one frame is an image, thus each image needs to be re-encoded, with the new set of rules/settings).
