I have been burning DVDs with an empty, but present AUDIO_TS folder. Is there a reason to actually put the folder in there? Is this to make the resulting DVD more compatible with set top players? If you have any clear and present answers pointing to the source of what you say, please include the link. In other words 10 people can come in here and 5 can say "absolutlely need them" and 5 people can come in here and say "Don't bother" .. see what I mean? If you say it's needed, then Why?

Thanks!
Would answer a great deal, really.

What I can tell you is that the professional authoring software, DVDWise ALWAYS automatically creates the "Audio_ts" folder when generating DVD files...

(By the way, I don't recall authorizing the use of my image for your avatar ;>})

Setarip: Appologies. I did not know anyone owned this image. I found it in ebay when looking for some photogprahy stuff, and it had text above and below it regarding synch cords. May I have your permissions to use it, or do you want to see the funny long eared cat I have? *S* Actually, I cropped the image down a bit to get rid of the text, and then had to resize it as it was too big to use as an avatar. I liked the picture, since, with my white hair, kind of reminds me of looking in the mirror after a good night of Viagra.. LOL :vbouncy: no.. the viagara just keep my hair standing up.. :rolleyes:

Back to DVDWise... I wonder 'why' it sets up an AUDIO_TS folder when it does it's authoring? Has anyone actually burned a DVD without any AUDIO_TS folder and then have the DVD work in a set top DVD player?

"Setarip: Appologies. I did not know anyone owned this image"

I was being facetious - It's a (distorted) picture of Albert Einstein ;>}

"Has anyone actually burned a DVD without any AUDIO_TS folder and then have the DVD work in a set top DVD player?"

Why don't you simply try one yourself?

The "empty Audio_TS" folder is indeed required for compatibility. You can search the doom9.org forums for more details.
