Is there a way I can merge AC3 to a divx file without converting the AC3 to a WAV file. I tried using AC3 DEC and Azid to convert to wav but they convert to PCM.
Any help/suggestions is appreciated

Nandub and perhaps a virtualdubmod

NanDub should allow you to add an .AC3 audiostream to your DivX-compressed .AVI file...

Is it a modified version of Nandub or regular..

NanDub is a "hacked/modified" version of VirtualDub just like the VirualDubMods are.As Batman/setarip mentioned NanDub (http://www.divx-digest.com/software/nandub.html) would have no problem muxing .avi and .ac3

vd_mod should be the best choice, as nandub actually had inconsistencies with muxing ac3 thats why one had to use specific inteleaving settings.

Divx-Digest has special, modified versions of virtualdub which allows u to take the exact ac3 and stick it with the DIVX file.......

this is the home of vd_mod and the best place to look for files/updated versions:

Thanks for the help, Nandub works perfectly... had some interleaving problems at the start but I fixed it. I am curious how would i un merge the AC3 from the avi if I had to.

open file
setting sound to direct stream
file => save wav
wav does not mean the format in this case but stands for all audioformats.
that means the extracted file will be mp3 or ac3 or whatever it was. remmber to rename/properly name the file after/when saving

In addition to UncasMS' info, setting video tab to direct stream copy and the audio tab to No audio. This will save a new avi without sound and not just extracting the audiotrack.

true ;)
and one might even have to cope with more than ONE language in video files and would then have to select the wanted audio stream and DESELECT the second one :angelgrn:

One more question, is there a way i can calculate interleaving values without guessing?

no
but there are some reliable settings for muxing ac3 with avi
depending on the type of ac3 and muxing tool, these settings differ.
