Probe in VirtualDub - Error ...

I am trying to ReEncode Some of my movies but sometimes I got an Error of "-101" like that....
I have investigate a little and found out that all the movies that don't work well on VirtualDub has at list 1 bad frame.

This thing is so annoing !!!
I am Using especially in VD Becuase of the possbilities of using filters such as Subtitler, Deinterlancing and so...

I tryed the DivFix but it did'nt do nothing ! Is there any other way to Fix those bad frames or make VD to Bypass this Error?

What are the file types of the files and what is the exact error message?

all the file types .... :

The Error occured in Divx 3.11 or xvid encoded files with AC3 or MP3 VBR sound (every file type) .

All the files with bad frames don't work. BUT all the files with NO bad frames work very well.

the message is: "VideoSourceAVI error: unspecified error (-100)"

And after a search in google of that message, Now I found this in VirtualDub Site:

"This error actually means exactly what it says -- unspecified -- but the usual cause of the error is a corrupted frame in your AVI file that the decompression codec rejected. Such errors are particularly apt to happen with MPEG-4 V3 (DivX) files, since those files tend to be transferred across multiple machines, each of which can introduce errors. There is no fix for the problem except to reobtain a clean copy."

So it says exactly what I thought... any solution???

Use Nandub of VirtualdubMod instead.

Give me the same Error....

Also Nandub Didn't Support Compression of other codecs exept Divx 3.11.
Also VirtualDubMod didn't support MP3 VBR .

If possible, set audio and video to direct streamcopy and resave the file.

If that does not fix your problem, backup the file and give divfix a try.

If you do a search on google.com there is software that allows you remove corrupt frames.

That's not true . . .

Try direct streaming as Batman suggested and see how it improves things.

Yes it's true - VirtualDubMod didn't support MP3 VBR, after Direct Streaming and encoding - the sound is out of synq and the File Information says that the file (ReEncoded movie) contain CBR sound.

Try correcting the synch by changing audio and video framerates so that they match, or manually as outlined in divx-digest synch fixing guides.

Try this. Under Video tab -> Frame rate, select Change so video and audio durations match (fps value close to the original)

And also, how did you determine whether the audio is VBR or not from within VD's file information? If you set the Audio tab to Direct Stream Copy (prior to reencoding), VDMod will leave the audio untouched (ie. it will remain as VBR MP3).

VDMod didn't support MP3 VBR stream very well and does'nt know how to work with them, BUT he can mux an VBR stream that you provide him into a video file (perhaps that's the reason for your confusion).

I checked the file in a little software called GSPOT (not the File Information of VD, and found that the file remain untuched VBR - Sorry I've confused). - But the file is out of synq.

I've also tryed to change in Video tab to "Change so video and audio durations match" - in the end of encoding the movie has "lost" 100 megabyte (now is 600 mb) and this file is not readable in any player.

I have also tried to Make Direct Streaming in Nandub and VirtualDub_MP3_Freeze (they support MP3 VBR Very Well) and in the end I got the same file as the original without any sinq probe... but I got also his bad frames :smashead: :smashead: :smashead: - I'm getting crazy :shocked:

I search in google for a software to Remove bad or curropt frames and found a few guides and software to remove a bad frames from a movie - Now this make me to ask another quastion:

If I remove the bad frames from my video - will it also remove some parts of my sound?

Backup the original file before experimenting with the program anyway.

First - NEVER download movies from kazaa (at list until they will come out with new version that's work like Edonkey which has a method of finding and replacing the bad parts of the downloaded movie) .

Second - I need to find somebody to send me a piece of good frames to replace with the bad frames in my movie .

I suggest you all do same.

That is not so easy to accomplish, given the HUGE amount of frames found in a given movie.

Wouldn't it be better if we do the rips ourselves and attempt to get as high quality as we can? :)

why should I Rip movies myself? the other groups are doing it just fine :D ....

By the way - ViTE group has release "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers *DVDScr* *XViD* " - the movie is in length of 3 hours (90 minutes to each CD=2 CDs) and they encoded the movie with:
Xvid - 2Pass 970kbits
Audio - 135kbps VBR,48kHz

I Have seen the movie and the quality is not very good !
I have seen a lot of movies that was encoded like this and I think they could do a better job.

Quite contrasting statements from you in one post. :)

Which pretty much reinforces my previous statement. The quality control will be left entirely in your hands. It is more fun that way and you gain more experience on video encoding.
