Does VDUB give you any error? ARe you able to view the file properties?

You could back up the file, and try divfix.

In vdub, the error message comes up, and i say ok, and the program punts.

In DivFix i load the file, and every button i press says that it is not an AVI file.
could this file possibly be fake?

Post the error message. It is possible that it is a fake.

Try loading the file in Virtualdubmod.

tried gspot?

vdub and vdubmod say "cannot determine file of type "//maincomputer/kazaa downloads/matrixreloaded.avi""

i click on ok
vdub looks like it just started without anything loaded.

gspot says "not an avi file" on every box

Seems to be a corrupt, most likely fake file (especially considering the fact that the Matrix Reloaded is very far from theatrical release).

true, but what could be filling up 650MB?, even if it can load and can have frames. when i load it into a player, there is no screen(its like it is a music file)

It could be compressed in a non-AVI format, such as Quicktime, RealVideo or VIV. Try using players for the respective formats.

no, none of the above frmats made it work. it is probably a fake file...

Perhaps it's a zipped, rarred, or such? (beats me as to who would ever consider doing so, but it's worth a try nevertheless)

nope, its extentions were .divx.avi
maybe i should change it to .rar or .zip?

Sounds to me like it's an ogg encoded DivX file, or something else odd like that.

Download the NIMO codec pack [http://nimo.titanesk.com/modules/news/], and install the majority of the codecs [don't install any of the DivX related ones, or the MM Stream switcher, it won't work with MP9, and will cause it to crash.]

It has an insane amount of codecs, both audio and video.

But rest assured that even if you get it working, it won't be The Matrix Reloaded you get [although you could get lucky, and find lesbians:bglaugh2: ]

Hey Chickeneater- any news about your attempt to get that movie to play? Did you try the Nimo Codec Pack as suggested by Pony Canyon? Hope you will post back.

no, i already have the nimo codec pack. It was a fake file, with 100% proof that it was. so sad...
