Stupid question, but I have to ask.... Windows XP does not have ASPI support (what ever that means). When I open SmartRipper 2.41, it lets me know this, and then rips movies perfectly with DeCSSPlus in dark black. It seems to work fine, so what is ASPI. and does it matter that I don't have it?!?

Thanks,
Rick

Yes you do need ASPI. The reason Win XP does not have it is that from Win2000 upwards MS developed a new system. ASPI stands for:

Advanced
SCSI
Programming
Interface

This suggests that it is mainly for SCSI devices, but the same applies to IDE. You will still be able to do most things without it, but in order to get rid of any errors or warning messages you need to download ForceASPI. Some software not designed to run on 2000/XP will not work without an ASPI layer installed. You'll find it on this site somewhere.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck!
