I have a movie that is in XviD with ac3 sound, but I didnt have any sound. So i downloaded the AC3 codec because I didnt have it. Now my XviD movie plays the video and sound in slow motion. I know its not the movie because i tried another movie with XviD and AC3 and it did the same thing. I've tried downloading differnet versions of the AC3 codec, but it doesnt seem to help. I even tried reinstalling XviD but it did the same thing...Can someone please help me with this?

uninstall the ac3 codec.
get the nimo codec pack and install the intervideo ac3 decoder only.
see if it works.

Ok, i did what you said and the videoplayes fine, but now I can hear the sound barely. Its almost like the background noises are in full volume and the talking is turned way down. It isnt in slow motion though anymore. So how do i fix that problem now...Cuz its very difficult to hear people talking.

check your sound settings under control panel. Do you have the treble down , or too much bass?
make sure no sounds are muted (except the microphone) and try it out.
im not aware of any filters or codecs that will soften voices, or louden them.

my treble and bass are all the way up and not all my movies do this. Just the xvid ac3 ones.

While playing you can change the properties of the ac3.
The page I suggested tells you about this.

is your default setting in windows "digital only"? because most likeley, your speakers are analog and your sound card is digital. there is a setting in the control panel and the sounds part somewhere that you can uncheck that "digital only". this may be the problem.

mrwicked- did you ever get sufficient help for your playback problem using the ac3 filter recommended by The Edge? I cannot figure out how to configure it either so I'm hopeful you will share a positive outcome. Thanks.

Well...That prog didnt work for me, so I tried download another ac3 filter called ac3filter_0_65b.exe ironically and my ac3 sound magically works now. There is another problem now:smashead: . Only the AC3 movies play choppy, but the sound is fine so...any ideas?
