Hello, just posted msg with ffdshow, it resolved the problem i had, but still if u can explain me why i had this problem , it would be nice:

fresh installed 98SE +
ACE mega codecs 5

=> when i play DIVX5.0 video with REALONE PLAYER or DEFAULT MEDIA PLAYER (6.04) from windows98se , it looks like you would view a true color image with desktop set to 256 colors ... ( or like if u set very high compression ratio
=> big zones of same colors, and awfull image

i installed DIVX5.0 codec over ace codec ... and nothing changed

Problem was solved after i installed ffdshow it seems..

Whats the cause of this problem ?

thnks for help

RealONe player is not a great player for playing divx content.

I like BSPLAYER, though WMP 6.4 is also good.

I am leaning towards the conjecture that ACE MEGA CODEC 5 somehow screwed your system, as a general rule only install the codecs you actually need otherwise you can run into problems. As far as codec packs are concerned, TSUNAMI CODEC PACK is the best in my opinion.

Ensure that you have set the colour depth of your desktop to 32-bit.
