Hi @ all!
Got some minor experience with backing up dvds...
I just wonder why some DVDs i reencode and burn do not work.
done a lot of movies with rempeg which play perfectly and some of them just donīt play although my playstation 2 with messiah plays them perfectly.
as an example the fog by carpenter, or return of the zombies and some karaoke dvds just wonīt play on my standalone.
i use always same media, nero, rempeg, a pioneer a04, and the same prcedure.
rip with smartripper(backup), reencode with rempeg, us ifoedit and burn them as a dvd movie disc with nero and the majority works perfect.
furthermore the karaoke dvds r dvd-5s and shouldnīt be a problem to copy but they just donīt work which i have no explanation for.
thnx for any help on this thread.

Nero causes compatability problems.
Try another burning prog.

"burn them as a dvd movie disc with nero"

Use NERO in the "ISO/UDF" mode
Create two folders "Audio_ts" and "Video_ts" (Despite what others have posted, it's NOT necessary that the names be all capitalized)

Drag and drop your files into the "Video_ts" folder

Burn

Let us know of your success ;>}

hi again burned karaoke dvd5, no macro, two times, once with
UDF/ISO 1.02 and second with force dvd compatibility,
:smashead: iīm going nuts on this problem.
the originals work perfect on my standalone, tried nero, all possibilities, dvd-decrypter, even nero 1:1 copy since they donīt have a macrovision, no chance they work in my dvd-rom, in my Ps2 with messiah but my standalone just wonīt start with them.

by the way what exactly does it mean if ifoedit tells me at the playback, that no valid dvd volume could be found, even if i made a 1:1 backup with smartripper to my hd, and i didnīt change anything ? someone got a clue (backed up more than once to prevent copying errors)
could that be a mastering error on the original?
why does my standalone play the original perfect, a copy not?

I know a lot of questions but well i hope someone can give me a hint(s) on the miracle of dvd............................

hehe found something on the karaoke dvds

when i start ifoedit after i made a backup with smartripper, i run vobextras and it changes something , so does get Vts sectors,
but i donīt know why because i changed nothing on this dvd5.
i guess this is why ifoedit says no valid dvd volume could be located , but this warning also appears after i have done get Vts sectors.
so something must be different to the original but what?
i got no clue whatīs wrong
buhu
