Hi there,
I've got a problem with a downloaded AVI. The audio plays back at the proper speed, however the video plays back VERY slowly... moving the slider will re-synch the audio and video, but it takes only a few seconds for the video to be WAY behind the audio again. Here are the details for the file from GSpot:

Filesize: 163 MB - Status: File Length Correct
Video Format:
4CC: div3
Name: DivX 3 Low-Motion
Codec IS Installed (using ffdshow)
Aspect: 624 x 472 (1.322:1)
Bitrate: 471 kb/s
Framerate: 29.970 FPS
Duration: 00h 42m 16s
Stream Type and A/V Interleave:
Type: OpenDML AVI
I/L: Not Supported
IMRR: n.s.
Audio Format:
Name: divx (same as wma) (0x0161) DivX Networks
Codec IS Installed (using Windows Media Audio)
Bitrate: 64 kb/s (32/ch x 2ch)
Fs: 44100 Hz
DirectShow Render:
Source: MEDIASUBTYPE_Avi
Video Media: 4cc: DIV3
Audio Media: WMMEDIASUBTYPE_WMAudioV7
Splitter/Other: AVI Splitter
Video Codec: ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder
Audio Codec: ACM Wrapper -> Windows Media Audio V2

Seems to me that the Aspect has GOT to be wrong... I can't imagine that the video is actually that large.

I attempted to split and re-merge the audio and video streams using TMPGEnc, but encountered the same problem. Playing the video stream only played back at the same, wrong speed.

So, my guess is that I need to correct the header information... which leads me to my problem. I haven't the slightest clue how to do that. I know that I've seen tools that you can use to change header info, but I still have no idea what the correct numbers would be for this file.

Or I could be completely wrong, which would really just be par for the course... :)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Kevin

I've had the same problem before but it was before i upgraded my computer. It happened with avi files that had a very high bitrate. my video card simply could not keep up. Upgraded to a Geforce 4 MX440 and problem solved. What seems to help is knocking the quality slider down to minimum that gives worse looking video but it may help with the sync problem. Of course you may have the latest greatest hardware i don't know.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to include system specs :)

I think my system should be capable of keeping up. Specs are:

Athlon 1900+
1 GB DDR 400
2x 40GB ATA/133 @ RAID 0
ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB

Thanks! :)
