does anyone know how to make a working backup of a playstation 2 game?
i tried using the dvd copy feature in nero 5.5.10.0. and when it finalized burning, i tried it on my ps2 and got an "please insert a playstation or playstation 2 format disc" message (red screen)
can anyone help me?
thanks

got to ask but you have a chip fitted?
if its a ea games disc then you need to patch it!
i backed up gta3 and vice city by doing disc copy with nero

Um this kind of thing is illeagal if you got the game from a friend and backed it up or something like that. You might not want to post such things as this... People might get the wrong impression

Backing-up ps2 discs that are yours are not a felony - as long as you own them. But even if their not yours, all you need is to have a mod-chip installed in your ps2 and it will play any copied game.

i have a modchip installed, it plays backups of ps 1 games, but when i tried to back up my playstation 2 games it flashed the red screen, my question is, is there any special way i have to back up these games? or do i just use the "copy dvd" feature in nero?

Well I wasn't accusing him of doing any "illeagal" act I was just saying that if it wasn't his he doesn't need to post about it. Yeah I copy my own DVD's and DVD platform PS2 games too..

the back ups are for when i put my ps2 in the car so i dont damage the originals, same with dvd's!

Well then the backed-up ps2 games should work also... Are you using a brand of cd-r media that you've never used before for your ps2? And don't use cd-rw for the ps or ps2, it almost never reads the disc.

Well sometimes PS1 modchips aren't compatable. Yes they are out there for both but some don't read both PSX and PS2

Use Clone-CD for perfect copies of games onto a single disc.

hi
i never had problems backing up ps2 games.
just copy them with nero dvd- copy option since they have no copy protection so far.
important is that u know how to boot with your mod chip.
i suggest u read the boot faq for the neo chip.
can be found on almost every ps2 site in the net.
if your neo chip does not support the EA-trick u have to patch your DVDs additionally to make them work, but read a faQ on your chip to make sure how your PS2 works with your chip.
hope it helps
PS: if your chip does not support DVDs boot there r patches which downsize dvd games to fit them on 1 or 2 cd-rīs .
can also be found on various sites, called rip-patches.

When it starts up and you can choose System Config. or Browser press Triangle. Or look at your serial number on the back

i've sent 5 ps2's to this guy and he did an awesome job. i have installed about 25 mod chips in ps1's and wouldnt attempt a ps2. it is a serious mod.

if you want a chip try www.modchip.ca
they are not the cheapest but there are one of the best.
i have a sony dru500a and use recordnowmax. i use ritek media. i am going to try some different media because a few games freeze at times.98% of them work great.

Check out the forums at cdrom-guide.com. Everything you ever wanted to know about backing up your Playstation and XBox games is in their forums. Also there are many expert members with specific knowledge in the console backup topic that can answer your questions. There are also many links to reputable chip installers with premodded systems if you are interested.
I backup my PS2 DVD games using the Nero DVD copy wizard, and always burn the copies at 1x, it's as simple as that. Depending on the specific version of PS2 you have, it may be particular about the brand of DVD-R (as far as I know DVD+ doesn't work well for the PS2), so a quality media is important.
I got my premod from psx-tech.com if you care to check out that site feel free. I also concur with post that modchip.ca is a very reputable company.
Hope this helps...
