View Full Version : DVD back-up compatability with Software DVD players under Windows

Hi,

If anyone has any advice on the following problem it would be greatly appreciated!

I've been making backup copies of DVD-5 discs just fine using DVD Decrypter's Read ISO and Write ISO. They play under all of my Windows software DVD players (WinDVD 4, PowerDVD XP and Sonic CinePlayer, although I don't usually use the latter) as well as stand alone DVD players.

Then I found DVD2One and have been trying to make backups first ripping with DVD Decrypter compressing with DVD2One and then burning with Nero or IMGTools. The discs I make will play under PowerDVD XP, but not under WinDVD 4. I find this a little troubling, and have not yet tried these discs on a stand alone DVD player (as I don't own one) and would like to know if I'm going to run into problems with them. If anyone has any advice or has had a similar experience, please let me know.

In NERO, remember to creata a "Video_ts" folder, in which to place all of the files created by DVD2One. For safety's sake, also create an "Audio_ts" folder...

Yeah, I always use a VIDEO_TS folder.

Is it best to use UDF/ISO or just straight UDF mode when burning?

I've found that plain UDF 1.02 is the most universally recognized format - especially for older standalone DVD players...
