A new firmware (version 1.30) is now available for the Pioneer DVR-A05/105 DVD writer drive.
The firmware updates the following :
* DVD-R/RW Writability Improvement (further improved from V1.21)
* DVD-R/RW Playability Improvement (further improved from V1.21)
* CD-R/RW Writability Improvement (further improved from V1.21)
* CD-R/RW Playability Improvement
* Supports 2X writing on New Prodisc DVD-R Media

Note that Pioneer firmware have a history of blocking firmware downgrades, meaning that once you update to a higher version, you can't downgrade it to a lower version in the future. This was designed to prevent people from using an older version region-free firmware with their drive.
Note that there is an unofficial patch to fix this "downgrade" problem. More information here (http://forum.firmware-flash.com/viewtopic.php?t=12265)
