Please be patient and in respect i did look other posts but couldnt find anything quite like my situation.
I recently downloaded an encoding tool called Avic(off Divx sight). It allows you to change codecs within a range of MP41,MP42,MP43,DivX3,DivX4.
This is where i fouled up.
I changed an Xvid to an MP43...Big mistake. No matter which codec i change it to within my range i cant view the file anymore.
The reason why i did this was simple to me dumb probably to an expert, the video was not in synch with sound so i dabbled in the arts of which i know nothing about trying to fix it but got deeper in doo-doo.
Is there anything i can do without having to download it again?(File is huge so another option or solution would be greatly appreciated.

first of all this should be posted in the P2P forum here since you downloaded it and try downloading VirtualDub and from the file menu open the file then from the file menu again click on File information then post everything it says

Open it up in VirtualDub and change it back to Xvid (lets try that first)

for a guide go to my site Here (www.dvhelp.cjb.net)
Click on guides
Click on VirtualDub/NanDub Guides
Then find what you are looking for. (you'll be able to find it)

well i tried what the sdtech suggested to the tee but when i wen to save it , it wouldnt do to an error on frame0 sooo...before i saw the new suggestion i just went and deleted it thinking that ill just start over and learn a valuble lesson and copy my files before i experiment.:( . But i downloaded the suggested codec changer just the same. Thanks for both inputs guys you helped me learn more than i knew yesterday regardless the outcome..

Ps. what is cross posting? I didnt see that in the rules but noticed a thread stopped due to it.
