Hi It's me again, got a new one for you techies. I am trying to encode an avi to vcd but I get an error when trying to save a wave file with v-dub, and I need to make a wav file cause tmpgenc does not recognise the sound format....this is the error I get with v-dub
ACM failed to suggest audio decompression format
AVIOutputWav: The handle is invalid
I know this is in ac3 sound so I need to make a wav file for this any ideas? attached is the file info

In TMPGEnc, under the "Environmental Settings" "VFAPI plugin" tab rightclick on the "Direct Show Multimedia Reader" and increase to the highest priority. This will enable TMPGEnc to accept a properly encoded .AVI with .AC3 audio for input...

thanks for your reply setarip but i already tried that with no luck tmpgenc still would not recognise the sound. I wonder if the version of tmpgenc might be the prob as I am using an old version of it (12a)?

"I wonder if the version of tmpgenc might be the prob as I am using an old version of it (12a)?"
Possibly. I can only vouch for versions 12c and newer handling .AC3 audio properly.
Are you CERTAIN that the audiostream is in .AC3 format?

hi setarip
I got a newer version of tmpgenc and set the environmental settings like u suggested and it encoded perfectly. So I guess it was my old version, thanks for the help :angelgrn:
p.s and yes it was definately ac3 sound : unknown (Tag 2000)
