2 hour 20 min vid = 4 gigs!!!!!

ok.. i have a 2CD DVD rip of Empire Of The Sun.. 2 hours and 20 minutes long. In case it is needed, here are the codecs that it is using:

Video Codec: DivX 3 Low-Motion (Using DivX MPEG-4 DVD Video Decompressor)

Audio Codec: 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3 (Using MPEG Layer-3 Decoder-->Morgan Stream Switcher)

Framerate: 23.976 FPS

CD1 - 711 MB
CD2 - 712 MB

Ok heres what happened when i try to convert CD1 to VCD.

Ok i just used the vcd NTSC Templater that comes with tMPGenc.
I switch the aspect ratio to "4:3 525 line (NTSC)"
I don't enable any filters. Then it says:
Movie Info: 352x24029.97 fps / 44100 Hz Stereo / 214 min 57 Sec
Video Resolution: 352x240
Average Video Bitrate: 1150
Audio Bitrate: 224
Estimated File Size: 2150.02 MB

I don't understand why this happened... i never had any problem converting any other files. I Have also tried to convert just the video file by itseld.. It still goes up to 1800 MB so i know it's not a video problem.
I know this was lengthy but i wanted to be as detailed as i could. If anyone had this problem before and knows how to fix it please help!!

Using a stanard VCD template use use a constent bitrate (CBR) video stream. That's 1150kbits/sec.

So, 2h 20min is 8400 sec and there ain't no ways that goona fit onto i cdr. You could spilt it across multiple discs or try a KVCD or XVCD. That uses VBR bitrate for video and you can lower the sound to something like 160 or 128. It can use non standard resolutions too.

To enable unlock the bitrate options, open the VCD NTSC template and then open the "Unlock" template. The internal size calc in TMPGEnc allow changes in the bitrate.

i dunt think u understand wut my problem is.. i already have the movie as a dvdrip in two avi files. both are about 700 mb.. and both are about 1 hour long. i tried to convert part one and its saying that the file size will be 2 gigs...

If you look closely you will see that TMPGEnc has the lenght of the movie all wrong... it's about 3h 34m and thats only your 1st cd... You could try to just encode it and i think it would be much smaller because it will run out of video to convert...

Anyways making a VCD with VBR audio?? That's doesn't happen and it causes the same thing you are explaining now. You will either have to convert the audio to CBR.
