I need to encode a Div 3 file into mpg for a vcd. The problem is nothing will extract the audio (including Virtualdub, it will save as a WAV but plays back really jumpy). I have the audio codec as I can play the file. When I check to see what codec it is, media player says its AC3 5 channel.
Any help would be much appreciated.

convert this ac3 to wav with BESWEET
thus your conversion tool should accept it as audio source.

it wont do it as it needs a vob or an ac3 file. All I have is the original div3 ac3 avi. It wont attempt to open an avi (unless it was maybe a mpg2 like a vob). I need some sort of program to extract the ac3 first but the only ones I have found are for vobs. Its getting late and I am running out of coffie. Thanks for your help

use virtualdubMOD (http://virtualdubmod.sourceforge.net/), go to avi => demux audio
in this guide you might find the basics on besweet:
