Is it possible to add the text to a dvd rip? I've heard there are some programs which can add the text...are there?

What exactly do you mean by a "dvd rip"

I think, because you posted in the DivX forum that you mean that you have a dvd-divx rip (file with a AVI-extension)
And by tekst i assume you are meaning subtitles.

If i'm assume this all correct ...........then the answer is YES

What you need is:
Virtual Dub
Subtitler plugin for virtual Dub
A subtitle file
A srt to ssa converter program

With this you can edit subtitles PERMANENT in your avi-file

There are also players that will let you load both the movie-file and the subtitle and then play them together on your PC
With this you don't change a thing to your files

Reason for putting them permanent into your avi-file is something you would do if you want to make a vcd out of it to watch on your standalone dvd-player
If you don't want that, then it is not worth all the hassle and just download a player which support subtitles (like BS-Player)

If you need more help with anything, just post your questions here and i'm sure you will get the answers needed. :)

for permanent subs in virtualdub or nandub use vobsub (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Files/Subtitles/VobSub_2.07.exe)

a guide on subs (http://168.144.91.167/nickyguides/subtitles.htm) can be found at nickys (http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/index.htm) (a must read anyway!)
