Hello, i just want to know how to convert a DivX 3 video to a DivX 4 or 5 ?

- install divx5
- load file into virtualdubMOD (google.com will help)
- choose divx5 as video codec and save the file to new name

if you are going to just use it for playback on your machine, use ffdshow to decode the file. I don't know but maybe using a fourCC changer would do it. you could also uncompress the file and reencode it to whatever divx you want.

i thought it might be for use in an dvd mpeg4 player!?

otherwise a conversion wouldnt make any sense at all.

Yes changing codecs to another without a need to is pretty well dumb.
