Frozen video w/audio

I've got a divx 5.0.1 file that plays the first 15 seconds or so then freezes but the audio continues fine. I've tried VDub(Mod), WMP, Real Player, Divx Player, Zoom player and BSplayer. All pretty much the same but in some, if I skip around manually the correct frame will show (so I know the data is there) but playback will be frozen still. What can I do to correct the file?

Load the file into VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod
Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy"
Scan for bad frames
Save with a new filename
