Divx AVI question

Can anyone tell if there is a way that a standalone dvd player (vcd/svcd capable) can play a divx avi cd? Or do you absolutely have to convert it to vcd mpeg ?

No stand-alone DVD Player to date can play DIVX files unfortunately. There has been talk that in the future they are going to be capable of doing so, how this is going to be done and when is still unclear.

Only thing you can do is create a VCD or SVCD instead. A lot of DVD-Players can handle that format. All tools you need for creating a VCD r found @ digital-digest.com
