I have ripped about 80 DVD's to Divx using MP3 Audio
and I never encountered Audio/Video Desynch but when it comes to Divx/AC-3 the dumb thing won't work :-)
I am trying to rip "The Crimson Rivers" (PAL) to DivX/AC-3 (448Kb 5 Channels)
and I have used different settings to preloading and Interleaving
like:

Preload:160 Interleave:160
Preload:128 Interleave:128
Preload:160 Interleave: 60

but the result is the same everytime :-(
The sound is always forward than the video playback

I know that the real pain in the ass when it comes to converting DivX with AC-3 is the Audio/Video Synch but what troubles me is that at least I should see some improvement when I change the settings but I don't. It's the same thing :-)
weird...

Although you didn't mention the software by name, it's apparent that you're using the .AC3-modified version of VirtualDub.

In the same box where you've gone to change the preload and interleave settings, you'll see a section for "Audio skew correction".

Let us know of your success;>}

I used the Audio Skew correction (Value 373 ms)
but it still did'nt make any difference.
I have read somewhere that about 10% of the problems ripping
with AC-3 are not correctable.
Is this true? Do u know anything about it?

I've never heard of such a thing ("10% are uncorrectable).

"I used the Audio Skew correction (Value 373 ms)
but it still did'nt make any difference."

I'm sure it made a difference, but perhaps not significant enough for you to notice. I'd suggest that you try a skew correction of 1,000 or greater, just so you can readily see a difference - and the make adjustments as are necessary.

Thanx I ll try that ;)
but still isn't it a pain in the ass to have to make the DivX 4 or 5 times to get it right?
I don't have so much time to do the movie 4 or 5 times because I am ripping at least 1 movie a day and my H.D (40 GB.) is always full :-)
Are all AC-3/Divx like that or is it just this?

"but still isn't it a pain in the ass to have to make the DivX 4 or 5 times to get it right?"

Naaah... think of how gratifying it feels when you finally "get it right" ;>}

try these settings:

AC3 192kbit/s => Preload: 80ms Interleave every 80ms.
AC3 384kbit/s => Preload: 160ms Interleave every 160ms.
AC3 448kbit/s => Preload: 128ms Interleave every 128ms.

I have read the guide and tried Preload 128ms Interleave 128ms
(My audio is AC3 448kbit/s) but still nothing.
No improvement :smashead:
