hi all
nero 5.5. whatever is a pain in the arse, i select to make vcd, choose file, ect...ect......
so it encodes takes 5-6 flippin hours and gets to 99% and then crashing my cdr drive disappears from my computer and i have to revive it to carry on the work,
why the hell does my cdwriter not respond? when it gets to 99 or even a 100%
any ideas????????

OK - go through this checklist first:
1. Can you burn other CD's? (music, data) if yes - you may have memory problems or System problems. If not - anything can be bad including your CDR drive.
2. Check you memory and CPU - get a hardware check program (download.com probably have some) and check your memory and CPU in the most thorough mode.
3. Try to reinstall your system, leave out anything you don't really need (at least for checking the system) and try burning again.

yeah ill look into that, theres something else that happened the other day aswell.
it did the encoding and when it came to the bump process thing it said C:/my documents/films/the others/the others.avi DISK FULL
this wasent my cd cos its was new and i checked it.
nero is a pain in the arse if you know of any vcd software that will arthur then for vcd compatible dvd players then i would be grateful.
by the way i meet system requirements with a pentium 3 450
and 250mb ram
resources 69% free.

lol yeah i already have that peice of software but it only encodes to mpeg1 but dont write, ya think i should encode myself and then write the mpeg with nero, but when i have an mpeg what option do i choose in nero, cos i think i tried an mpeg in nero with option vcd but it still did the encoding.
get back tell us what ya think.

Be sure you also have the plugin installed and that you avi sound isn't ac3 or audio sampled with 48.000Hz
http://abdul6561.homestead.com/files/tmpg.jpg
1. open TMPGEnc
2. browse for your avi (audio source and output automatically fill up, otherwise configure it)
3. hit load and a new window will pop up in which you have to select the correct template
4. hit start
sit back or take a walk (depending on your system a stroll around the park or else a walk around your island :D)
Now you will end up with a mpg-file
Nero ---> select create vcd
drag & drop the mpg into the correct window
nero will now "examine" the mpg (shouldn't take too long) and then burn it as vcd
Put it in your dvd-player and (if it supports vcd's) enjoy your movie on the tellie:D

I takes more then that :D
You can cut the mpg with TMPGEnc also
file ---> mpeg tools ---> merge & cut
I do hope TMPGEnc automatically changes it into 44.100Hz ( I'm not sure of that - I always convert it to 44.100Hz BEFORE encoding it to mpg)
Just do me a favour............................................ .............................
Stop the proces and play your mpg file (you can do that with WMPlayer) eventhough it is not the whole movie
Do you have sound ? .................... Then TMPGEnc is even a better program then i figured it to be
No sound? ...................... You have to convert the samplingrate
Either way, let me know and i will be a little wiser or i have to explain how to convert 48.000 into 44.100 :bglaugh2: :bglaugh2:
