I have read the DVD to DivX guide, using DivX 4.12 and FlasKMPEG 0.6 preview. BUT, there are something that the guide doesn't teach us. They are:

1. What resolution do I have to choose?? When I try to put 720x480 there are black bars all around the picture, BUT the original HAS this resolution and have black bars only at top and bottom.

2. I am trying to convert PCM audio. But when I run VOBDEC (is this the name?) and I go to menu: Audio»»AVI Audio. WHERE DO I SELECT THE WAVE AUDIO FILE??? The guide has something wrong, I don't know where to select audio file. If I choose WAV file, select it and then change to AVI File, it does not work (the file is not selected).

3. If I do all this thing using Pass 2, first pass and then Pass 2, second pass it will take lots of time. Could someone teach me how to make a DivX file fast and that fits 2 hours on a single CD??? I don't need DVD quality (but I don't want VHS quality!). SVCD quality is good for me... HELP ME!!!

U can use DVD2AVI to cut of the black bars above and below the picture and to decode the sound that your movie has (PCM,Dolby Digital e.t.c) to a WAV file.
I think its fast and easy to understand.
U can download it from www.digital-digest.com and also the guide for it. Download also the VFAPI Reader too

As for the filesize u can fit a 2 hour movie into 1 CD but u won't get very good Video and Audio quality :(
U can use 1 pass but u better download a DivX calculator because in many cases u have to make the movie 2 or even 3 times to achieve the desired filesize
