I've just ripped all files from Final Fantasy dvd movie, save only the main movie vobs and video_ts files.
With IfoEdit I discard japanese, italian languages and subtitles and rebuild IFO files, and put all files into VIDEO_TS folder.
Just Burned the directory with Nero 5.5.6.4 (in UDF format) when i Play it from Windvd (with my pc) it works perfect, but it don't recognized by stand alone player....
Sigh
Any ideas?

which kind of Video CD did u burn it?
VCD or SVCD?

nearly all dvd players should play vcd (but there are also some that don't), svcd is just supported by newer players, have a look at the specifications of your player

Is this the first movie you tried ripping??
Have you had success before?

It's the first over 4,7 GB...
but the ifo/vob structure is fine... All the PC player software recognize the dvd video format, only the stand alone player doesn't work (the dvd is region free).
I think the problem is in Nero software (or in settings), before I always used Apple G4 with Toast and this is the first time I use Nero

i think using Nero is all the problem,
i have the same problem burning Charlies Angles , but i did all the menu and Chapters with some Extra Scenes with SpuceUp, then burned with Nero( because SpruceUp dont burn, it just stops before burning anthing just compiles the DVD structure VIDEO_TS) .. and the same, WinDVD plays it, and Ps2 didnt

Yep,

Just to confirm, NERO is not that good for burning DVDr's. You would be better using Prassi DVD.

Never had a problem using Nero. Select UDF/ISO option at the bottom, it works fine, Only problem is it is at 1X with DVD-RW and DVD-R.

As for copying DVD's, I have had 100% success with, Swordfish region 1, The Dish and Final Fantasy.

Dead Easy to do, but takes about 2 hours.

1, Rip with DVDdecrypter.
2, Open IFOEdit and load Vts_02_0.ifo
3, Press GET VTS SECTORS and OK all windows and save them.
4, Press VOB Extras and De-select Re-MUX, Donot select Rebuild PTS and select all other boxes
5, Select a new destination directory i.e. c:\name of film and O.K
6, Only select the one audio channel and deselect sub-channels
7, Press strip it and in the next window choose the VOB Id for looking at the main window in IFOEdit at the point below sub-picture it will say (uses VOB-IDs:1)
8, Press Strip it and wait.
9, When finished, open up the Vts_01_0.ifo it will have created in your new film folder and press GET VTS SECTORS and OK all windows and save the IFO file as it is.
10, Open Nero and select New, DVD, UDF/ISO.
11, Under New create a folder called VIDEO_TS and put all the files from the New Film folder into the Video_ts folder.
12, Press Burn and after about 40-50 mins. There you go.

Email me for the document in MS Office format, or go to this link.

I have gotten two dvd's to burn. Fletch, wich works flawlessly, and scary Movie 2 which has a glitch at the first chapter. I tried to do Swordfish but it does nothing on the standalone player. I used smartripper, pulled the minimum down for size reasons. GOt it under 4.7 gigs finally. Deleted menus and extra stuff. Used Ifo edit to get VTS sectors, saved a a BUP and then burned using Nero UDF/ISo. It will play in file format on PowerDVD, butI get nothing on my standalone APEX-1500.
What went wrong? I have a Panasonic 311 DVD-R. I unfortunetly cannot do DVD-RW.
If anyone has a solution to this I'd appreciate it. THx.

if u have the DVD directories(VIDEO_TS and maybe AUDIO_TS) ready to burn.. just...

1.- Get VOB instantCD+DVD v6
http://www.vob.de

2.- follow the this steps.. http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/Derrow/vob.html

3.- and try changing the UDF format from 1.02 to 1.5, if 1.02 doest work on your stand alone player..

Was swordfish region 1, and did you make it region free? or can your player do region free.

I had no probs at all with any of the dvd's I have done.
All you have to make sure is the compilation contains a VIDEO_TS file with all the VOB's and VTS files in it?
