"but when i put empty dvd-r (from the same media that it recognized burned)"
The fact that you've successfully burned the same brand of media on this burner, coupled with your statement that your system recognizes the burned DVD-R would seem to clearly indicate that it's not a problem of,
"maybe the kind of brand isnt supported by your burner('s firmware)!?"
It is, however, possible that:
1) You've got one or more "bad" DVD-Rs
2) You need to run a DVD/CD cleaning disk on your burner (Maxell makes one that retails for approximately $10US)
3) If you do a cold reboot, your burner may recognize the DVD-R
Have you tried burning the DVD-R, despite your system indicating it's a CD?
Are you hearing a knocking sound when the burner is trying to access the blank DVD-R?

:smashead:
ok, i have installed my os (win xp sp1) again. it recognize the dvd-r as an empty dvd media. it even starts to burn (!) but then it ejects the dvd without any notice and the nero vision express get stuck. DVDit also stops at the middle telling me there was an error.
to sum it up:
os: xp sp1 - ok
prog: nero/DVDit - ok
dvr 105 firmware 1.33 - ok
media: dimond/tdk - ok
all of the above together - not ok !
i am pretty confused - what could it be ?

"but then it ejects the dvd without any notice and the nero vision express get stuck. DVDit also stops at the middle telling me there was an error."
What SPECIFIC error message is generated?
As I mentioned previously, it is, however, possible that:
1) You've got one or more "bad" DVD-Rs
2) You need to run a DVD/CD cleaning disk on your burner (Maxell makes one that retails for approximately $10US)
