Need help with making VCDs

I am trying make VCD's. I am using Nero. The first time I tried using a 20MB file, I believe it was an asf file, nothing burned onto the disk. The second try when I put it in my stand alone dvd I had picture but no sound. I tried reading through the other posts on making vcds but that only confused me more. Can someone please help, maybe explain step by step how to make this work? All my files are either ask or asx, very few avi.

This does not bode well for your efforts to create VCDs.

You could attempt to use the ASF-tolerant version of VirtualDub to TRY and convert any true .ASF files to .AVI format (which is much easier to convert to MPEG1-VideoCD format). You can obtain this version at:
