Right ok, :

fast Motion! 75 crisp 6000 bitrate

make your source as clear and good as possible because then fast motion will not produce any macroblocks and also reduces file size alot! Works for me like a charm, cause I borke the "world record"

I would say DivX 4.11 and any decent bitrate calculator.

Lol Trancemaster-techno

DivX 4 for a good quality and to 2cd's conversion
DivX 3 Fast motion for 1 CD conversion
I use DivX4

m$ v2 is my one and only

no macroblockglitches like divx3 low motion sometimes produces

Exactly, I agree with UncasMS but however, if the source is REALLY good, then use fast motion (only when captured)

But I agree with uncasMS

Hope I understood your post exactly:

I think that for decoding the codec is not so important. Maybe DivX4.11 is a little faster and can give a little bit more quality with the postprocessing. If you want the best quality with any codec , then open the video in VirtualDUB and use the filters to get the best out of the video. With VD's frameserver you can directly use it in TMPGEnc without any recompression.

To: blenderman,

what do you mean with:

"then open the video in VirtualDUB and use the filters to get the best out of the video. With VD's frameserver you can directly use it in TMPGEnc without any recompression."

what filters,, i do not know a lot about VD..
how would i do that what you are suggesting..

thanx again..... your posting a lot!!!! LOL... keep up the good work

You can open nearly every avi-file with VirtualDUB (actual version is 1.4something). VD uses filters (found in video -> filters ->add) to change the resolution, colors, contrast, black borders or anything else. It has also some filters to increase the quality and make the video more smooth or sharp or reduce the noise in the video. If the right filter is not included, then you can also finde many filters in the web for download.
If you start the frameserver VD creates a pseudo-avi file (around 1KB big) wich can be opened with TMPEGEnc. It has exactly the same quality you see in VD. The installation and use of the frameserver can be found in VD's help-file.
