Playing avi's on your home theater

How can I play divx or xvid avi's on the home theater without converting to mpg svcd? Are there any DVD players that play divx or xvid avi's burned right to cd's? Is the a DAR device that lets you stream the video to your Home theater from your pc? I'm not looking to use a TV out on a video card just yet.
