Hi there.

I wonder if someone can help me.
I have come across AVi's that have been converted to Mpegs to run on DVD players that fit on one 700MB disc. Yet I have tried all different things to accomplish this and I cant do it.

Does anyone out there know how to do this or where I can find out as its really fustrasting now. I drop the bitrate and make it fit on a 700MB cd in TMGEnc but it still comes out as 900MB.

PLease help

Thank you

Both VCDs and SVCDs are time dependent, meaning that they can only store a specific length of movie. 80mins for VCD and 45mins or more/less for SVCD. Unless you use a larger CD-R such as a 99mins CD, there's no way you can fit something more than 80mins on a normal CD-R.

Btw, how long is the movie? If it's less than 80mins but more than 700MB, you still can burn the VCD. It's time dependent, not size dependent.

KVCD is a modification to the standard MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 GOP structure and Quantization Matrix. It enables you to create over 120 minutes of near DVD quality video, depending on your material, on a single 80 minute CD-R/CD-RW. We have published these specifications as KVCDx3, our official resolution, which produce 528x480 (NTSC) and 528x576 (PAL) MPEG-1 variable bit rate video, from 64Kbps to 3,000Kbps. Using a resolution of 352x240 (NTSC) or 352x288 (PAL), it's possible to encode video up to ~360 minutes of near VCD quality on a single 80 minute CD-R. The mpeg files created will play back in most modern standalone DVD players. You must burn the mpeg files as non-standard VCD with Nero or VCDEasy.

You can download the the templates for TMPGEnc. http://www.kvcd.net/dvd-models.html
