View Full Version : DivX to DVD Format
Hi everyone,
I just bought a DVD Writer and wondering if it is possible to convert my DivXs in a DVD format (MPEG-2) so I can play them on my DVD-player.
If someone knows how to do it I would really appreciate if you share this information with me.
Thank you

One set of procedures (other posters may/probably will suggest alternative methods) would be:
1) Use "TMPGEnc" to convert the .AVI (DivX-compressed or otherwise) to compliant MPEG2-for-DVD format - Use "TMPGEnc's" DVD wizard/template to accomplish this
2) Use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" v.1.5.11.37 (a different program than "TMPGEnc) to easily create the required additional DVD files and structure (and chapters and a menu, if you wish)
**If the combined filesize of the DVD "package" written to your hard drive is greater than 4.37Gb, use DVD Shrink (or similar) to compress
If your O/S is either Win2000 or WinXP, TMPGEnc DVD Author can also burn your DVD. Otherwise, use NERO to burn in "DVD-Video" mode
(As an alternative to "TMPGEnc DVD Author", you could use "DVDLab")
Let us know of your success ;>}

For some reason the TMPGEnc software i have says that my free trial is over and i cant convert anything, i have tried to update it with latest one but the same is happening. What can i do about this.
I have 'avi' files,so far i have used avi2vcd and it comes out with a picture upside. Does anyone know the nest ways of sorting out avi files to have a finish of them working on a dvd player?

"Is it a long conversion ?"
That depends upon how powerful your system is
"does the sound has to be converted too ?"
That will be taken care of by the procedures I've listed - unless the original source video contains a Variable Bitrate .MP3 audiostream...
