windows media player 6.4 - needs codec divx 5

on this computer that i am on now is windows95 -
this means that the latest media player is.......
windows media player 6.4


since i cannot upgrade i have never been able to
play the new divx codec avi files.


is there any program out there can help?
i know divx 5.0 and up are for more recent versions
of windows & windows media player but nobody
has made a patch??

Why not upgrade Windows first? Your system should be powerful enough (in light that it is to be used to play DivX files).

ok i downloaded ffdshow and it didnt work it froze my
comp and forced a reboot when i click dixv avi files
that use 5.0 and up.

also,
i could upgrade but i dont HAVE windows 98
or any other version for this computer
