infos needed:
which divx codec is it? (use gspot)
which codec do you have installed? (if in doubt, install the latest ALPHA of ffdshow)
which player did you use? (zoomplayer will be my suggestion)

I use divx 5.0 and i play the movies with windows media player 9.0....when i say the sound doesn't work i mean it doesn't work for anything including mp3's or IM....nothing
if you have any suggestions or a fix it would be awesome, thanks

Have you checked your volume control panel and made sure that none of the Master/Wave sliders are set to zero or mute?

Are you able to generate audible sound from ANY type of file that contains audio in ANY format?

1) If you have a separate soundcard, check to see if it's properly seated and/or connected
2) Check ALL connections
Is there anything else that's not functioning properly on your PC?
Your soundcard may have died...
