VCD created, but can't play on DVD player?

With the use of the most un-userfriendly software this side of the galaxy, Dazzle 80, and the use of DMSEnc (or some name like that) I have finally created a VCD after about a week of reading and learning and trial and error. However, now I can't play the stupid thing in my DVD player. My player is DVD, VCD, and compatible with some other format, but this VCD will not play. I have played VCD's in my DVD player before so I know it's not the player. Anyone can help with this?? You guys rock! Also, it plays in my DVDrom drive on my computer.

Since it plays on your DVDRom Drive on your computer and does not play on the DVD player I would say that it is your DVD player after all.
I mean have u noticed for example that some scratched CD's are not readable by some CD-Rom's and by some other's are? Metaphorically speaking maybe it's something like that.
Next time use TMPEG for VCD conversion's :-)

Most standalone DVD players are very "finicky" about which brands of CD-Rs they are willing to recognize. I have had great success with the Prime Peripherals, ArtMedia, and Princo brands. Additionally, most of the standalones will recognize most brands of R/W CDs (purportedly because of their higher reflectivity).

I have the same dazzle **** as well...after you have created your vcd compliant file you need to burn that file...use nero or adaptec to burn the vcd compliant disc, bearing in mind that your dvd player must support cd-r or cd-rw playback

Hi.
I see this is the commomn problem after all. I've been trying to solve it for days already :smashead:.
My standalone DVD player (Toshiba 1300) reads VCDs produced by some VCD Video Company, BUT it would not read my home-made ones. It would freeze the picture every 1-2 seconds, althou the sound is OK the picture is awful.
I use Virtual DUB to first strip the DIVx from sound, then i use TMPEnc to create the PAL VCD and then i use VDCEasy to burn it on disk. May be those tools are not appropriate for the process but i got the process's description from vcdhelp and after i burn the vcd it is being properly read by my PC without any problems at all.
I have no f... idia of why my DVD would freeze the picture every one-two seconds - maybe there is something wrong with the bitrate of the VCD (i set 1150 kbits/sec) or the frame rate (i set 25 fps).

If anybody know the problem, please help.

Since you are familiar with http://www.vcdhelp.com/ , have you checked to see what (if any) detailed information they have about the capabilities of your specific make/model of standalone player?

I've been there already. They all say that this model supports VCD. And i have no doubt about it either, because i bought one and it played perfectly.
My problem is - why when i burn VCD by myself i see strange results? My picture freezes every second, with all kinds of visual noise. I've tried different formats - i've created PAL and NTSC VCDs using predefined TMPEnc templates, i've tried to set settings by myself, i've tried to lower bitrate from 1150 kbits/sec to 1120, i've tried Constant bitrate and Variable bitrate. Nothing helps.
Is there anybody here who've encountered the same problem and knows how to fix it?

Hi there, re-encode the MPEG file with TMPGEnc, limit the fiddling in TMPGEnc to quality and PAL/NTSC what ever suits and after you have cut the file if necessary, run it through Mediaware M1 Edit Pro Edition, Go to Tools, Repacitize the file to VCD and drag and drop in NERO and burn to VCD and see if that helps. Let us know how you get on :)

Hi, i mean - Conversion Rate>Slow or Very Slow = increased movie quality in comparsion to Normal or fast.
