sound but no picture???

recently i have been unable to get any video when i play movies... the sound works fine but the screen remains black. it does this for all media types, avi. mpeg, and even real media stuff. i am not sure but thik it happened about the time i installed wmp 9. i have unistalled all codecs and reinstalled them (ffdshow)
i know that the movie files are fine as i have watched some of them previously. thanks in advance for any help you can give.

did you try decent players like zoomplayer, bsplayer or media player classic?

wmp7/8/9 = crap imho

If your O/S is WinXP, simply perform a rollback to just prior to your installing WMP9...

if i do a roll back it wont change any other applications or data (sorry i am abit of a noob)

and also if it is a problem with wmp 9 how come real media (.rm) dont work.
