Please, if you are an expert, contact me by ICQ or MSN to explain some doubts:

1. I have problems splitting AVIs - sound get out of sync.

2. DVD2AVI is crazy. sometimes it says that the movie is 23FPS, sometimes it is 30FPS, sometimes interlaced, sometimes progressive, sometimes FILM more than 95%, sometimes less... anyway... it is really driving me crazy!

3. I want to convert a DVD movie using DivX 5.XX and keeping the AC3 sound (easier and BETTER if I keep it, I think).

HELP HELP HELP!

MY ICQ # 83009210
MSN: brazil_dpr@hotmail.com

Please, help!

what do you think a FORUM is good for?

reading & acquiring information and advice but not a platform to leave email/icq/msn to be contacted like a hotline

1) explain in detail HOW you did it
2) different titles - different specs
3) what's the big deal keeping an ac3?

First... I wrote a great post but I don't know what happened it was not subsmited. So that's why I posted this one later... I was not in the mood to write everything again...

Well.. let's see...

1) explain in detail HOW you did it
I followed EXACTLY as shown in the Guardian Knot guide... NOTHING different... (I don't check FORCE FILM on DVD2AVI).

2) different titles - different specs
Specs is not my problem... but I prefer widescreen because it doesn't have a part of the movie taken out...

3) what's the big deal keeping an ac3? [/B][/QUOTE]
The deal is: I have Dolby Digital and DTS decoding... speakers I HAD, but I'm goin' to buy new ones... what's the deal of the downmix to 2.0 if you are able to run it on 5.1??? It's much better...

THE MAJOR PROBLEM: splitting the final AVI... can I do the split while Guardian Knot creates the file or I need to use VIRTUALDUBMOD or NANDUB??? They don't work very well I think.. It seems the sound ALWAYS get outta sync!

I asked for the "hot line" because if the "support" has a question, I can answer at the same moment! But that's OK if you answer here! Of course!

sure - all i was gonna say was, that using ac3 will not be a problem/big deal at all

First... I wrote a great post but I don't know what happened it was not subsmited. So that's why I posted this one later... I was not in the mood to write everything again...

of course i know how it feels having typed a large posting and seeing it ruined - but without a decent amount of information, you cannot expect decent help here

I followed EXACTLY as shown in the Guardian Knot guide... NOTHING different...

are you referring to my guide?

if so, following it to the letter will be difficult, as the guide and described tools are OLD

so apart from the possibility that you might have done something differently, there's also the chance that using slightly different versions might lead to different results!?

in case you still have the final movie file, try cutting it AGAIN but this time DONT use nandub (which i havent used for years now) but take virtualdubMOD (and i mean MOD!) instead

i have never had any problems using nandub in the old days, though

thus the question is: is the file fine BEFORE you split it?

if so, did you try vdMOD already?
if not, do so!

but I prefer widescreen because it doesn't have a part of the movie taken out...

what does the above have to do with the original question/problem:

DVD2AVI is crazy. sometimes it says that the movie is 23FPS, sometimes it is 30FPS, sometimes interlaced, sometimes progressive, sometimes FILM more than 95%, sometimes less

widescreen is not a matter of fps or interlacing

But that's OK if you answer here! Of course!
i personally will not answer via mail/icq/msn etc because the board and its postings will help other readers as well and of course other people might be able to help/solve your problems here - but only as long as one is able to read what has been tried so far and what not - this of course is not possible when different people might respond via mail

therefor, mail & co is inapropriate

@brazil_dpr, next time you write a post and it's a big post, after you have written it copy the whole thing so that if anything happens like you said all you have to do is then keep trying and when you do finally succeed you will only have to paste it in then.

THE MAJOR PROBLEM: splitting the final AVI... can I do the split while GORDIAN KNOT creates the file or I need to use VIRTUALDUBMOD or NANDUB??? They don't work very well I think.. It seems the sound ALWAYS get outta sync!

VIRTUALDUBMOD or NANDUB??? (Better use thats there job)
Nope they don't get you out of sync (depends how you use them)
Many ppl use these excellent programs and did not find problems.
But don't worry they sill are not perfect so if you intent to use them ,first of all give them a try and then if you encounter problems just post here.

Actually this is better than a hotline because in a forum many ppl
will come out with many ideas, in a hotline its only one or few ppl which will support your answer. :vbouncy: :D
