Audio > Direct stream copy
Video > Full processing mode
then save Wav
The wav file plays and has the full sound of the movie , but after being encoded , its sillent... can anyone give me some guidence.
PS: i used PAL 4:3 fullscreen settings

i rather thought you could mux this new mp2 with the existing video stream you had created before!?
otherwise you might chose wav as output format when converting in besweet

i demuxed the wav file in virtualdubmod , then converted the ac3 to mp2 using besweet..... is that not what you said to do previously?

can i not just load the ac3 file into DVDauthor with the m2v video file ?
UncasMS
14 Mar 2004, 06:57 AM
you can, but where does the ac3 come from now when you were talking about wav before?
Becrazed_ben

when you demux the Avi file in virtualdubmod , dont you get an ac3 file which can then be used with the mv2 file to create the VOB's

demuxing means stripping whatever is inside
this could be an ac3, in most cases it is mp3 and sometimes you'll find ogg vorbis as the audio format
file => file information will point out the details of your avi

i just demuxed an ac3 file from another movie and it wouldnt load in tmpgenc dvd author , got the same illigal file error message , it said

For a Standard DVD you can use the following audio formats
Dolby digital (AC3) MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2, or linear PCM
the Ac3 file created in my previous movie worked , why not this one?

You should be able to import the AVI file directly into TMPGENc without having to use Virtualdub to demux the audio at all. Did you try and do that initially? If you have trouble importing the AVI into TMPGENc, do the following:
Under the "Environmental Settings" "VFAPI plugin" tab rightclick on the "Direct Show Multimedia Reader" and increase to the highest priority before you load your AVI.

no , im talking about TMPGenc DVD author , the problem i had was that after encoding the avi file , the mp2 file was sillent , thus needing to demux the avi...

I would try and use the regular TMPGENc to encode the AVI directly, then use DVD Author to import the mpeg 2 file.

MOST authoring programs are very picky regarding .AC3 header information. Use "AC3fix" to correct your .AC3 file, then TMPGEnc DVD Author should accept it for input...

ok i tried it on another movie , but it seemed to demux an mp3 from the avi file... is there a way of converting this to ac3?

answering my own question , i used besweet to convert the mp3 to ac3 then i used ac3fix to correct it , then when loaded into tmpgenc dvd author it gave me yet ANOTHER error message , this time saying:
*Cannot use 32000 Hz audio sampling rate for a standard DVD.
Cannot use 32000 Hz audio sampling rate for a standard DVD.
For a standard DVD you can only use the following sampling rates:
48000Hz or 96000Hz

What would you want to use 32000hz audio sampling rate for anyway ??????? the lower you go with the sampling rate the less subtle sounds you hear. All you are doing is making the rate go deeper, me i just keep the same source sampling rate (i.e 48000hz) that way the audio is nice and crisp and you can hear exactly what is on the DVD.

i didnt intend to keep make the sampling rate that low , hense why im confused :/

im still confused as to why the mp2 file was sillent though.. is there a fool proof way of getting the audio from the avi file without having to use tmpgenc, because it doesnt seem to like me :)

"is there a fool proof way of getting the audio from the avi file without having to use tmpgenc"
Try using NanDub. (A variant program of the regular VirtualDub). However, it looks like by what you indicated in your previous posts, you have used the regular VirtualDubMod already.

what i ve done previously is get the wav file from the avi using Virtualdub then load it into tmpgenc with the avi and encode them , however when its complete the mp2 is sillent , dispite the fact the wav is in perfect working order.... i got round this on a few movies by demuxing the ac3 from the avi and then just encoding the avi (video only) in tmpgenc and loading both the ac3 and the m2v file into tmpgenc dvd author... seeing as the mp2 is sillent :/

To Becrazed_ben:
Try to convert the demuxed ac3 file to a "New" mp2 file in BeSweet (or HeadAC3he). Then go back to TMPGEnc and try to mux your .m2v file with the "Newly Created" mp2 from either BeSweet or HeadAC3he. See if that works.

the problem i had was that when demuxed the avi file , it was an mp3 file , not ac3... so i had to convert it to ac3 with besweet then fix it with ac3fix. Then when loading the ac3 and m2v file into tmpgenc dvd author it gave me the error msg i pasted above::
*Cannot use 32000 Hz audio sampling rate for a standard DVD.
Cannot use 32000 Hz audio sampling rate for a standard DVD.
For a standard DVD you can only use the following sampling rates:
48000Hz or 96000Hz
which drove me nuts.. :?

"the problem i had was that when demuxed the avi file , it was an mp3 file , not ac3."
In VDM, use the "Save as WAV" feature, and then use BeSweet or HeadAC3he to convert to mp2.

"ok just tried that , got the following error message when loading in tmpgenc dvd author:"
Use the "Regular" TMPGENc" to "Multiplex" your m2v and mp2 together to form an mpeg (1 or 2) file. Then import into DVD Author.
