Help converting DivX3 to XviD

Hi, I am trying to convert a DivX3 file to XviD using VirtualDub (because my MPEG4 dvd player generally dosen't play DivX3 files) and I'm finding that the quality isn't as good as the original (the output is more pixelated).

I am using kueupis build of XviD with a matching bitrate from the original. I'm not sure whether using a higher bitrate will have any effect, however the filesize will be too big if I do this.

By the way, I am using fast-recompress mode on VirtualDub.

You won't get better quality than the encode you have now. If it is pixelated and everything then the quality will be worse when you re-encode it.

P.S just like when you encode from a DVD, you don't get the same or better quality.
