Full screen play

I used to play a movie remember the titans with some codecs i installed (don't know wich one), and i could watch it full screen. But now i installed win xp and installed the divx 3.11 and 4 codecs but now i can wach the movie full screen but WITH 2 big black stripes above and under the movie.

Should i use other codecs??

What player are you using to view the movie? Is it the same one you used previously?

by any chance would those be because its a wide screened movie? what software are you using to play back the movie?

This is the reason.
If the dvd movie is a widescreen then your divx movie sould be widescreen.
I believe it has nothing to do with the codecs you have installed.
But some players kai change your movie from 16/9 to 4/3 but of course you will lose some parts of the video.
